"IF" Obama were "serious" he could have done this already by Executive Order.
What he said in his speech was a political gesture to the progressive homosexuals, but not a promise.
Neither the Pentagon or the Joint Chief's of Staff support the repeal of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy. The FACT is homosexuals can serve in the military, as long as they don't discuss or disclose their sexual preference.
According to a survey by the Military Times, 58% of military personnel oppose the change and 10% say they will not re-enlist if the policy is changed. I would expect that the President will follow the suggestion and guidance of the military brass, rather than the progressive liberals on this issue. The country is at war, and this isn't the time to make any drastic changes which could effect morale and enlistments.
