Former Ariz. congressman plans run against McCain

Former Arizona Congressman J.D. Hayworth says he's planning to run against John McCain for his U.S. Senate seat.

Hayworth told The Associated Press late Friday that he stepped down as host of his radio program on KFYI-AM, a conservative radio talk show in Phoenix. Legally, he wouldn't be able to host the program and be an active candidate.

Hayworth was ousted from his Congressional seat in 2007 after 12 years in office by Democrat Harry Mitchell, and has hosted the radio show for the past few years.

Hayworth says he's not formally announcing a run for the Senate seat, but that "we're moving forward to challenge John McCain."

He added that he's had a wonderful time at KFYI, but "it's time to enter public life again."

There's probably a GOOD reason why he lost his Congressional seat.

And now he wants to challenge John McCain for his Senate seat.

I wonder why he's reluctant to make a "formal" announcement or "legal" election filing?

He probably lacks the campaign money and support to overthrow McCain in Arizona.

BINGO!

McCain is a certified American military hero, just like Bob Dole was in Kansas. :)

He also has the fame & fortune of Cindy's family to keep him in elected office. ;)

It will be tough for any Republican to win a primary challenge against McCain and the establishment in Arizona.

Next week I will be in AZ visiting family. They don't like his immigration record much.

True, the "voters" don't like his position on immigration.

Between his campaign war chest, family fortune, party loyality, political status and war hero record, he just keeps getting re-elected. 8-)

I just don't think JD Hayworth can defeat McCain in a primary challenge. :o
