Wichita rep sentenced for DUI

Postby Stalewind » Fri Jul 09, 2010 1:49 pm

State Rep. Phil Hermanson of Wichita has been sentenced to a year of probation and a $500 fine for driving under the influence of prescription drugs.

Hermanson, a Republican, was sentenced Thursday. He pleading no contest to DUI after he was involved in a Nov. 6 accident in Wichita.

Hermanson was also ordered to serve 48 hours in the city's intervention program. The program shows offenders the dangers of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and includes victim impact panels.

The Wichita Eagle reports that if Hermanson breaks any laws or violates his probation, he could spend six months in the county jail.

This guy should immediately resign from office.

We all make mistakes, but we lead by example and this idiot is an elected State Representative.

I know...

At this point anyone in elected office that gets a DUI, isn't fit to serve in my opinion.

If he admitted what happen and stands up to face the sentence, then I would let one time pass- keep his job.

I don't know how the authorities knew he was under the influence of prescription drugs, unless he told them. I didn't realize that constitutes breaking the law, unless you are really whacked out. Maybe he was. I wasn't there.

I've had it!

I'm tired of watching elected officials create laws and then violate them, and claim they are sorry.

Everybody has an "excuse".

If he isn't "smart" enough not to drive while on prescription drugs and have an accident, he has no place in elected office.

If the guy had an once of common sense and some decency, he would resign.

I wouldn't vote for him after this accident if he was on the ballot... that's for damn sure.

See I am more forgiving on their first time, no accident, no one hurt and it appears he admitted it. They only serve two years and I believe everyone of them are up this Nov, so I don't see any harm in staying in office.

The guy was driving a car under the influence of prescription drugs, he wrecked into someone.

It doesn't matter to me whether anyone was hurt or the damage caused, he should have enough sense not to drive.

If you aren't smart enough not to break the law, you damn well shouldn't be writing or enacting laws.
